Notting Hill Couple Session on Film | London Film Photographer

"Will never get over these - an absolute honour to be photographed by you James 🥹🫶🏽 cannot wait to see the magic you create for our wedding!"

A couple of weekends ago, I had the pleasure of spending time with Meghana and Jordan, photographing their Notting Hill couple session on film entirely on 35mm and 120. They both love film, so it just made sense for that to be the medium we used. As a London film photographer, I was so excited for this one!

When I got the film photos back from the lab, I was so gassed! Scan day really is the best day. The depth in the colours, the grain, the little imperfections, the way the photos can feel really real while still feeling dreamy at the same time, those are just a handful of reasons why I’m so obsessed with taking photos on film. It’s a huge part of why I love what I do as a London film photographer.

We chose Notting Hill for the session because it holds such a special place in their relationship, and it’s somewhere they’ve made so many great memories together. I always love photographing couples in places that feel personal to them. I think it brings something extra to the photos when the location already feels like part of their story, and it means we’re using somewhere that already feels familiar and comfortable too.

For me, sessions like this are about more than just making nice photos. They’re a chance for us to spend a bit of time together, for me to get to know my couples better, and for them to get used to being in front of the camera. It always makes such a difference when the wedding day comes around. People feel more relaxed, more at ease, and more able to just be themselves. As a London film wedding photographer, I love couple sessions like this because they help everything feel that bit more natural when the wedding day arrives.
