A Wedding at The Mount Without – Christie & Tom
A Bristol wedding full of character, laughter, and the best dancefloor I've seen all year.
It started on a video call. One of those where you instantly feel like you’re chatting to old friends. That was Christie and Tom, easygoing, funny, and with a plan that felt more like a party than a performance.
Their wedding at The Mount Without in Bristol? Straight out of a film. Not the overly polished, slow-mo confetti kind. The kind where the energy is real, people mean it when they smile, and every corner of the day feels like it’s actually theirs.
The Mount Without is a rare one. A deconsecrated church-turned-venue, with stained glass and sky high ceilings that somehow manage to feel grand and intimate at the same time. If you’re hunting for somewhere that doesn’t look like every other wedding venue, this place is it. It’s raw, full of character, and a dream to shoot in.
From the start, I knew I wanted to photograph Christie and Tom’s day on both film and digital—especially at a venue like this, where the light and architecture feel made for 35mm.

Why I Shot This Wedding on Film and Digital
I used a mix of digital, 35mm, and medium format film throughout the day. There’s something about film wedding photography that gives back more than just a sharp image. Some moments just ask for it, the kind of light spilling through stained glass, the hush before the ceremony, that second where everyone forgets there’s a camera in the room.
Film slows everything down. It makes you see differently. There’s a softness to it that fits this kind of setting, it doesn’t just show how it looked, but how it felt.
Christie and Tom had that kind of relaxed, throw-the-rulebook-out vibe, so blending film into the mix made perfect sense. No filters, no overposing, just the real thing, with all the grain and magic left in.
Christie walked in and it was game over. The place held its breath. Tom—grinning, slightly stunned—didn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day. Their ceremony, officiated by one of their closest friends, was a mix of heartfelt moments and plenty of laughter. No one checked their phone. No one looked bored. Just people fully in it.
The reception? Absolute scenes. The kind where speeches turn into roars of laughter, and the dancefloor kicks off before dessert. Their friends and family brought the sort of energy you can't fake. The kind you wish you could bottle.
Christie and Tom, you didn’t just plan a wedding, you created a day people will talk about for years. Thanks for letting me be the one to catch it all.
